Afghan families in urgent need of donated items

Donna Yay, Centre Director

There are still many Afghan families being temporarily housed in hotels in our local area and we expect them to be here until at least March while they are relocated across the country. We are working with other voluntary groups to help source urgent items to make their lives more comfortable. In particular, they are having trouble getting around on foot - there are several large families with a number of small children who are unable to walk far. This means that many, particularly the women, are stuck in their hotel rooms with children playing in corridors.

We urgently need good quality second-hand scooters for children aged 3 to 12 and buggies, so that the families can get out and benefit from the community facilities and parks in the area. See below for a list of all the items we are looking for.

Please bring your donations along to: Fitzrovia Community Centre, 2 Foley Street, London W1W 6DL on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st January from 10am to 8pm both days. We are calling upon the generosity of our community and we thank you from our hearts for anything you are able to give, no matter how small.
