Fitzrovia is a Forest

We are proud to be hosting three events as part of the 7th edition of Fitzrovia Arts Festival! For 2023, the Festival is centred around the theme, ‘Fitzrovia is a Forest’.

According to the UN, London is a forest. It has one tree for every person, and roughly 20% of the city has canopy cover. The Fitzrovia Arts Festival supports the nurturing of trees and green spaces in our local area, for the stories they tell and the centuries of benefits we reap from their presence.

With a programme of concerts (both classical and jazz), exhibitions, poetry readings, talks, walks, and performances, the Festival is a wonderful confirmation of the cultural continuity and community spirit of this unique London ‘village’. This year the festival offers a solo recital by Anna Im, recipient of the prestigious Michael Hill International Violin Competition.

Aside from Fitzrovia Community Centre, this year’s venues include the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery, The Fitzrovia Chapel, Pearson Square, TJ Boulting Gallery, the Anaesthesia Heritage Centre, and numerous pop-up locations around Fitzrovia. Please keep an eye on the website as new events are appearing daily.

We will be kicking off the festival with the Hidden Fitzrovia history walk on Sunday 11th June, 11am, with Linus Rees of Fitzrovia News. Not only is it being featured as part of the wonderful Fitzrovia Arts Festival, it is one component of the multi-faceted Hidden Fitzrovia arts project; a collaboration with local artists and community organisations, for the benefit of all those living in and around Fitzrovia. The project is funded by Westminster Council as part of its Inside Out arts festival in August of this year.
